Job description

The IT Manager (m/f) plays a key role in managing and continuously developing the IT landscape across both Croatian entities within the Lürssen Group – Lürssen Design Center Kvarner and Maritime Center of Excellence. The role is responsible for IT infrastructure, engineering applications, ERP and PDM/PLM systems, cloud services, cybersecurity, and the automation and machine learning infrastructure supporting the company’s digital transformation. As engineering operations rely on these systems every day, the IT Manager ensures their stability, security, performance, and continuous improvement.

Working closely with engineering teams, project management, finance, software developers, and the Lürssen Group IT organization in Germany, the role acts as the link between business needs and technology solutions. In addition to leading IT operations and infrastructure projects, the position drives process automation, supports the implementation of new technologies, and contributes to AI-enabled engineering initiatives. Strong technical expertise, proactive communication, and a solution-oriented mindset are essential to successfully support business growth and continuous innovation.

For this position the scope of work will include the following tasks:

• Take full ownership of the IT infrastructure across both entities, including servers, networks, cloud services, engineering workstations, software licensing, vendors, and overall IT operations;
• Administer and support engineering applications (CADMATIC, Siemens NX, Teamcenter), ensuring system availability, upgrades, licensing, and seamless integration across engineering projects;
• Manage ERP systems (PS System and PSI Penta), including user administration, interfaces, and system enhancements supporting business operations;
• Maintain reliable PDM/PLM data management and integrations, ensuring secure and consistent engineering data exchange across international locations;
• Collaborate closely with Lürssen Group IT in Germany on shared services, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and international IT projects;
• Partner with engineering, project management, finance, and other business functions to align IT solutions with operational and project requirements;
• Develop, maintain, and optimize GPU, virtualization, cloud, and machine learning infrastructure supporting engineering automation and digitalization initiatives;
• Design, implement, and maintain secure sandbox and development environments for software development, testing, and innovation activities;
• Support software development teams by providing and maintaining repositories, CI/CD pipelines, APIs, development environments, and required infrastructure;
• Design and continuously improve network architecture, ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performance connectivity between local and international sites;
• Ensure operational IT security through identity and access management, endpoint protection, patch management, backup, disaster recovery, and compliance with Group security standards;
• Balance stability of production systems with agility for development and innovation through effective change management practices;
• Continuously improve IT operations through automation, scripting, infrastructure monitoring, and Infrastructure-as-Code principles;
• Administer and optimize the Microsoft 365 environment, including Entra ID, Teams, SharePoint, Exchange, and related collaboration services;
• Lead IT infrastructure and digitalization projects, including planning, budgeting, vendor coordination, implementation, and technical execution;
• Manage relationships with hardware, software, cloud, and telecommunications providers, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality service delivery;
• Maintain IT documentation, asset management, license compliance, and audit readiness in accordance with internal and external requirements;
• Define and implement data governance principles for engineering and business systems, ensuring secure handling of sensitive engineering data;
• Evaluate and introduce new technologies, tools, and methodologies through structured testing and continuous improvement initiatives;
• Plan future IT capacity, infrastructure investments, licensing, and budgets to support organizational growth and increasing digitalization.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent proven experience
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in IT administration or IT management, ideally in an engineering or industrial environment
• Excellent knowledge of networking technologies, including routing, VLAN design, VPN, firewall administration, and network monitoring
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux administration, including Active Directory, Entra ID, Group Policy, and certificate management
• Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, or Proxmox) and cloud services (Microsoft Azure or comparable), including hybrid environments
• Good scripting skills in PowerShell and at least one of Python or Bash, with experience in automating recurring administrative tasks
• Experience with enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions (Veeam or comparable) and infrastructure monitoring tools (Zabbix, PRTG, Prometheus/Grafana, or comparable)
• Working knowledge of database administration, preferably Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle
• Experience administering engineering applications (CAD, PDM/PLM) and ERP systems; experience with CADMATIC, Siemens NX, Teamcenter, PS System, or PSI Penta is considered an advantage
• Good understanding of software development practices, including Git, CI/CD pipelines, containers, and test environments; Kubernetes knowledge is an advantage
• Affinity for process automation and machine learning infrastructure; experience with GPU environments or ML tooling is considered an advantage
• Structured, proactive, and solution-oriented approach to work, with a strong willingness to continuously improve systems and processes
• Good knowledge of spoken and written English, German is considered an advantage
