The Project Procurement Coordinator (m/f) is responsible for securing the right materials, equipment and services for complex naval shipbuilding projects on time, on cost, on quality and in full contractual compliance. The role coordinates international suppliers across multiple projects and sites and acts as a central interface between project teams, suppliers and internal functions. A key responsibility is the coordination and steering of procurement activities and team, ensuring alignment on priorities, timelines, supplier activities and project requirements. The role actively manages supplier-related activities, monitors progress and deliverables, and supports the successful execution of projects across different sites. Close collaboration with engineering, project management, quality, logistics, legal and claim management ensures effective cross-functional coordination, timely issue resolution and adherence to project targets, schedules and requirements.

The ideal person for the job will be independent and reliable, team player with systematic and meticulous approach to work. Furthermore, excellent verbal and written communication skills in English language is a necessity. For this position, you should have the following key set of skills in your portfolio:

• Coordinate and steer procurement activities across multiple projects and sites, including alignment of procurement timelines, supplier activities and project requirements.
• As Part of the project team, Project Procurement Coordinator for multinational shipbuilding projects and programs, acting as a central interface between procurement, project management, engineering, logistics, scheduling, quality and other internal stakeholders.
• Support the project team on procurement-related matters, from contractual and commercial assessment through the operational execution of the procurement process.
• Lead and coordinate the source-to-contract process, including supplier sourcing, NDAs, RFQs, commercial negotiations and contract drafting in coordination with internal stakeholders (e.g. Legal, Engineering and Management), as well as contract review, signature and execution.
• Prepare bid comparisons, monitor market trends, research new products and assess supplier performance to identify opportunities for cost savings, risk mitigation and process improvements.
• Monitor procurement progress, costs, budgets, contract award status and key milestones throughout project execution, ensuring alignment with project targets and schedules.
• Prepare procurement and project reports, maintain procurement and project data, and present relevant KPIs, cost savings, lead times, risks and deviations to project teams and management.
• Coordinate and drive proactive escalation management in case of supplier, schedule, cost or contract deviations, ensuring timely resolution and alignment with relevant stakeholders.
• Analyze industry and demand trends and develop and implement sourcing strategies in alignment with senior management and project requirements.
• Ensure accountability for the procurement process of assigned commodities and compliance with applicable legal, contractual and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor supplier performance, coordinate corrective actions and resolve supplier-related issues and concerns in close cooperation with the relevant buyers and project functions.
• Close cooperation with Cost Value Engineering to identify and implement cost optimization and value engineering opportunities.
• Continuously optimize procurement processes and support the implementation and improvement of procurement software and systems to streamline workflows and maintain accurate procurement records.
• Manage and coordinate the claim management for the procurement part.

Qualifications

The Project Procurement Coordinator (m/f) has a background balanced with industrial experiences and processes combined with start-up fast moving organizations, as well as:

• Bachelor or Master degree
• Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience in procurement, experience in project procurement coordination in the shipbuilding/maritime sector or a larger industrial company is desirable
• Clear and precise written communication skills in Croatian and English language
• Experience in functional leadership
• Strong negotiations and contract management skills
• Strong communication skills and a team player
• Good technical understanding and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Profound knowledge in project management, ideally complemented by a certification (e.g. IPMA or PMP)
• Highly organized and able to multitask
• Well experienced in contract law
• Structured approach to work
• Self-driven and target-oriented personality
• High level of commitment and initiative
• Profound user knowledge in MS-Office programs (especially MS-Excel) is a prerequisite
• High knowledge of English language (written and spoken), German is advantage

Additional Information

In this role, you will report to the Head of Procurement and Supply Chain but will also closely work with other teams in our Croatian and international organization to ensure continuity of the day-to-day business and scale quickly.

The position is located in Rijeka and might include travel activities abroad and/or other locations from within the Division Naval Systems Rheinmetall.
